Our stained glass windows: Miriam

Miriam
Miriam
” … and Miriam took a timbrel …”
Exodus 15:20, 21

Miriam is shown in two panels.  One with Jechebet watching over the baby Moses in the basket, and again after the Exodus from Egypt.  She is wearing a pink gown in both presentations. After the Exodus, the bible reads, “she picked up a timbrel,” or tambourine, and danced to the water’s edge with the other women. The water is to her right.  She looks back to her left, over the small encampment of her people and the tents in which they will live as they wander during the next 40 years.  The artist placed the panel near the sanctuary’s organ and choir to give recognition to Jewish Women who have excelled in the arts of music and dance.
