Temple Sinai Brotherhood 

 

photos2 4b12 Moore brotherhoodThe Brotherhood hosts Brotherhood breakfasts, usually the fourth Sunday of each month from September through June, featuring good food, conversation, and speakers from the community and Temple Sinai.  Full breakfast including eggs, lox and bagels, fruit, juice and coffee and sweets.  Breakfasts are $5 for Brotherhood members and $6 for nonmembers. 

Brotherhood also organizes meals and staffing for the homeless shelter, PORT, on Christmas; leads one Shabbat service each year; and assists at many other events.

Speakers include members of the congregation and members of the community.  In the past year, we've featured speakers on local and national politics, Russia, the Middle East, Yiddish, our Biblical Garden, local historical sites, and the Holocaust.  Programs for 2017/18 will be announced during the year as speakers are lined up.   Our first program:

0924michelson0924nimoyTrekkies, pop culture lovers, and Yiddishkeit mavens, beam yourselves over to Temple Sinai for an exclusive area presentation by award-winning poet laureate and writer Richard Michelson on his latest fascinating profie of an American icon, his dear friend Leonard Nimoy.   Please note the Brotherhood Breakfast will start at 10 am as usual.  From 10 to 11 am we will have breakfast, a business meeting, and a 50-50 raffle.  At 11 am, Richard Michelson will speak.  Books for sale will be available for signing.  $6 fee for breakfast for nonmembers of Temple Sinai Brotherhood.  Temple Sinai and Rodef Sholom Temple religious school students will also have age-appropriate sessions with the author during school hours.  This program made possible in part by Temple Sinai, by the Seymour and Lilian Glasofer Education Fund of Rodef Sholom Temple, and by Weymouth Funeral Home.
