Biblical Garden tour stage 11

Garden

Two groups of plants have brought special grief to botanists and translators trying to make firm identifications. One is the conifers, or cone-bearing trees and shrubs — the pines, firs, etc. Some were very large trees, growing in great stands in the native forests of the land, but the words used for them are often inconsistent and confusing. The outstanding exception is the Cedar of Lebanon. Though it grew outside of the present land of Israel, the tree and its qualities were well known, and references to it are clear.
